Plan meals around recipes you already love.

My Secret Ingredient helps home cooks save recipes from links, photos, videos, and manual entry, edit the version they actually cook, turn ingredients into shopping lists, and plan meals with a household.

Why it exists

Recipes are easy to find. Remembering your version is the hard part.

My Secret Ingredient is designed for the real way people cook: finding recipes online, tweaking them for the pantry, turning them into groceries, and trying to spend less on food that goes unused.

Save and Edit Favorites

Keep the original recipe link and your edited version together, including notes, ratings, and changes.

Build Shopping Lists

Turn planned recipes into a practical shopping list so grocery trips start with what you actually need.

Meal Plan to Save Money

Plan meals around favorites, leftovers, and ingredients you already have before buying more.

How the app works

A practical recipe system from saving to shopping.

The app is organized around the flow home cooks repeat every week: collect recipes, adjust them, decide what to cook, shop for missing ingredients, and keep useful notes for next time.

Recipe Library

  • Save recipe links and keep the original source URL with your edited version.
  • Add recipes manually when the source is a family recipe, cookbook, or personal note.
  • Edit titles, servings, ingredients, instructions, notes, ratings, collections, and cooking attempts.

Imports

  • Import from recipe websites that publish structured recipe data.
  • Use selected photos, recipe cards, or screenshots to create editable recipe drafts.
  • Use saved cooking videos under 10 minutes to create transcript-based recipe drafts.

Planning and Shopping

  • Build grocery lists from saved recipes and planned meals.
  • Plan meals by day, reuse meal plan templates, and account for leftovers or busy days.
  • Use cooking mode and timers while preparing recipes.

Household Sharing

  • Invite one other person to share recipes, meal plans, and shopping lists.
  • Use iCloud sharing on Apple devices so household data stays connected across Apple devices.
  • Optionally show selected device calendar or Google Calendar events in the household calendar view.

Free with premium

Free to start. Household Plus for cooks who want more.

My Secret Ingredient is free to start, with optional Household Plus monthly and yearly subscriptions for advanced importing, household sharing, reusable meal plans, nutrition estimates, and shared calendars. • Calendar and photo/video imports are optional and require user action or permission.

Data and permissions

Users stay in control of what the app can access.

My Secret Ingredient can be used as a personal recipe app. Additional access is requested only when a user chooses a feature that needs it.

Photos and Videos

The app reads only photos, videos, or transcripts selected by the user for recipe importing. Video imports may use platform speech tools or 306 Holdings backend services to create a transcript-based recipe draft.

Calendars

Household Plus can show selected calendar events in the household calendar. Google Calendar access uses a read-only calendar scope and can be disconnected in the app.

Household Sharing

Household sharing uses iCloud on Apple devices and Firebase on Android. Invited household members can share recipes, meal plans, shopping items, and household cooking details within the household created on their platform.
