Privacy Policy

Overview

Plant at Ease is developed by 306 Holdings. This policy explains how the app handles information when you create a plant profile, choose a photo, request plant identification, complete a care check, enable reminders or weather context, synchronize a private guest profile, make or restore a Plus purchase, export information, or delete data.

No Name, Email Address, or Public Profile Required

Plant at Ease does not require you to provide a name, email address, phone number, password, social login, contact list, or public profile. When cloud features are configured, the app creates a Firebase anonymous-authentication session with a random guest identifier tied to the installation. This guest session is not a recoverable account and cannot currently be used to sign in on another device.

Information Stored on Your Device

Depending on the features you use, Plant at Ease may store the following locally:

• Plant nicknames, common and scientific names, rooms, identification source, and added dates.
• Light, drainage, placement, indoor-climate, season, region, and care-plan information.
• Care history, soil observations, timing changes, next-check dates, and reminder preferences.
• Plant photos you choose to keep with a profile.
• Region, time zone, temperature unit, season pattern, and optional rounded weather coordinates.
• Bundled or cached care-catalog information, app settings, onboarding status, and Plus status.

Local information is subject to the device platform's storage, backup, transfer, and restore behavior.

Private Guest Cloud Profile

When Firebase is configured, Plant at Ease uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication and Cloud Firestore to synchronize confirmed plant profiles under the random guest identifier. Synchronized records may include plant names, species, room, source, environment answers, care profile, care plan, care history, and added or updated dates.

Plant photos and care-location records, including optional weather coordinates, are not included in the Firebase plant profile. Firebase and its hosting infrastructure may process standard connection, security, and service information under Google's applicable privacy terms.

Plant Photos and Photo Identification

Camera and photo-library access are used only when you choose to take or select a plant photo. The original photo you keep with a plant is stored in app-private storage on the device and is not uploaded to Firebase.

When you choose Identify this plant, the app creates a resized JPEG copy and sends it with the Firebase guest authentication token to the Plant at Ease identification service on Cloudflare. The service verifies the guest session and passes the photo to Pl@ntNet for visual matching. Pl@ntNet returns likely species and may return licensed reference-image information. The app shows up to three suggestions and requires you to confirm a result.

The photo is processed in memory by the Plant at Ease Cloudflare service and is not written to Firebase or durable Cloudflare photo storage. The temporary normalized copy created by the app is deleted after the request. Plant at Ease does not send care location with the identification photo. Pl@ntNet and Cloudflare may process request information under their own terms and privacy practices.

Identification Limits and Service Logs

The identification service creates one-way hashes of the anonymous guest identifier and connecting IP address to enforce daily per-user, per-client, and service-wide request limits. The quota store records hashed keys and request counts rather than the photo, raw guest identifier, or raw IP address.

Plant at Ease application logs for the identification service record a random request ID, method, service path, response status, duration, and error code when applicable. They do not intentionally record the plant photo, authentication token, guest identifier, or raw IP address. Cloudflare may also process standard network and security information needed to deliver and protect the service.

Approximate Location and Weather

Plant at Ease can use broad region, time zone, season pattern, and indoor-climate answers without requesting GPS permission. These values may be suggested from device locale and calendar settings and can be changed in the app.

If you choose Use approximate location, the app requests foreground location at low accuracy, obtains a location once, rounds latitude and longitude to two decimal places on the device, and stores those rounded coordinates locally. The app does not request background location or continuously track you.

The current weather feature sends the rounded coordinates, temperature unit, and forecast request to Open-Meteo to retrieve current conditions and a short forecast. Weather information is stored temporarily in app state and used to adjust relevant nearby care windows. Rounded coordinates are not included in the Firebase plant profile or sent with identification photos.

Notifications

Care reminders are optional and are scheduled locally on the device. Plant at Ease does not register a remote push token or operate a remote push-notification database for these reminders. Notification content may include a plant nickname and soil-check prompt, which may be visible on the Lock Screen depending on device settings.

Purchases and Plant at Ease Plus

Plant at Ease Plus is designed as a one-time, non-consumable purchase that removes the three-plant free limit. Apple or Google processes the store transaction under its own terms and privacy policy. Plant at Ease does not receive your full payment-card information.

The app uses RevenueCat to load the available store product, verify the Plus entitlement, process the purchase handoff, receive entitlement updates, and restore purchases. RevenueCat may process an anonymous app-user identifier, store product and transaction information, entitlement status, device platform, and related service information. Deleting plant data does not remove the purchase from your app-store account.

Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

Plant at Ease does not include third-party advertising, advertising attribution, cross-app tracking, client analytics, or client crash-reporting SDKs in the inspected release. 306 Holdings does not sell plant information, photos, care history, location information, guest identifiers, or purchase information and does not share them for targeted advertising.

How Information Is Shared

Information is shared only as needed for features you use:

• With Firebase for anonymous authentication, care-catalog access, and private guest plant synchronization.
• With Cloudflare and Pl@ntNet when you request photo identification.
• With Open-Meteo when you enable approximate-location weather context.
• With Apple, Google, and RevenueCat when you load, purchase, verify, or restore Plus.
• When required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, or legal rights.

Children's Privacy

Plant at Ease is a general-audience houseplant-care app and is not directed to children under 13. The app does not ask for an age and does not require a named account. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, use the app only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.

Retention and Deletion

Local plant profiles, photos, care history, location settings, and preferences remain on the device until you delete individual plants, use the in-app delete-all control, clear app storage, or uninstall the app. Device backups or transfers may preserve or restore local app information depending on platform settings.

Firebase guest plant records remain until they are deleted through the app or otherwise removed under service operations. The in-app Delete all data and guest profile control deletes synchronized plant and care-event records, deletes the anonymous Firebase user when possible, and removes local app data only after the cloud deletion succeeds. Because there is no recoverable sign-in, deleting the app before using this control can make a guest cloud profile difficult to identify.

Purchase records remain with the app store and RevenueCat as needed to provide and restore the purchased entitlement. Contact the applicable store for transaction-history or refund controls.

Export

Plant at Ease includes an in-app control to export plant information. An exported file may contain details about your plants, rooms, care plans, and care history. You are responsible for choosing where to save or share the export and for protecting it after it leaves app-private storage.

Security

Plant at Ease uses operating-system app storage, HTTPS service requests, Firebase security rules, authenticated identification requests, bounded photo sizes, and provider credentials kept outside the mobile app. Local information does not have a separate application-level encryption layer. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as Plant at Ease, its providers, supported platforms, or legal requirements change. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate app or website notice when practical.
